We draw, build and place furniture for eleven homes a year: rift-sawn oak, honed travertine and undyed wool, chosen for how they look at four in the afternoon, and again at nine at night.

Chapter one

A room ismostly light.

Before we choose a single piece, we spend a whole day in the room, watching where the sun lands and how long it stays.

Tub Chair No. 3

A deep, round seat that turns its back to the room and its face to the window. Upholstered in a heavy bouclé whose loops catch low sun like frost on a field.

02 · Low table

Pill 130, travertine

Cut from a single block, filled by hand and honed rather than polished, so the light sinks into the stone instead of glaring off it.

Sideboard Lang

Rift-sawn white oak, oiled seven times over three weeks. Push-to-open doors, so there is no hardware to throw a shadow across the grain.

Chapter three

Six materials. Nothing laminated.

Every surface in the room is solid, natural and repairable. We keep a sample of each in the studio and send you a box before anything is made.

Every room starts at 1:20.

Then we draw it. One west window, one door, and a clear path from one to the other that no chair leg is allowed to cross.
